CHLOÉ SOPHIE LAGARDE

Meet Chloé Sophie Lagarde, born on October 23 2014

Last week we became the proud parents of a beautiful baby girl, Chloé Sophie. Anticipated for months she decided to join us 1 day before her actual due date. At this moment we are enjoying our time as a little family, getting used to each other and getting to know each other better every day. Off course I’m still recovering from giving birth, getting used to the lack of sleep and my ever changing level of hormones. Luckily all of this is bundled up in a pink ribbon, every time I look at her I feel nothing but love.

If you are going to invest in just 1 thing this coming season then let it be a cape. Pregnant or not, this is the most practical cover-up ever. Not to mention so stylish and instand chic. It’s like the Parisienne of cover-ups, it’s got that Je ne say qua” written all over it. I scored mine already 2 winters ago and still I love to wear it as much as I can. These sunny days in fall with only a sweater under neath and in winter time combined with a leather jacket for extra warmth. Whenever you find the perfect one, don’t hasitate but grap it while you still can!

This season being comfortable and stylish can be so easy. I just love al the sportswear inspired clothing that is in stores now. Off course it’s all about how you wear it, dressed up or dressed down. I’m wearing my trackpants with heels and a pinstripe coat when I want to be dressed up. When I want to be more dressed down I combine them with my new Kenzo sneakers and a simple sweater. Both perfect options for the upcoming winter season.

The past few weeks have been like an extensive part of summer, the perfect opportunity to wear my favorite winter pieces in a different way than I would in actual winter time. While following the latest fashion trends for the upcoming season I noticed that the seventies are still a popular eara among my favorite designers. Well, and what’s more seventies than miniskirts and overknee boots. I love them in all black, giving them some extra edge and giving them a real modern feel. I mostly wear them with some other classics, like my boyfriends v-neck sweater and my new favorite bag from Diane Von Furstenberg. This bag has the perfect size to fit all of my daily needs combined with the perfect look to brighten up my all black looks. For sure a combination that I will wear all lot this coming winter.

With 36 weeks and counting I can now definitely say that maternity wear is not my cup of tea. I have tried and tested a couple of maternity jeans, t-shirts and tops and non of them are to my liking. I try to avoid them as much as I can, guess it’s just not for me. The only items that I have not regret buying are all dresses. Now they are comfortable without any concessions. Like this folk floral printed one from Asos Maternity. It’s my current favorite dress to wear, mainly because it’s just a “normal” dress with some extra space at the waistline, and sometimes that’s just all it takes.

By the way, this dress is also available in a “normal” size  for all you non pregnant. Now that’s why I love Asos!

Just last week I was looking for a pair of shoes to go with my outfit when I noticed something. I noticed that flat shoes were almost filling up half of my shoe closet. Something I could have not imagined a year or so ago. But he, when you have to make changes, you better do it right. A whole new world opened up to me, the world of sneakers and other comfortable shoes. While in Paris I scored my favorite pair so far, the Kenzo eye sneakers. So easy to combine with everything from jeans to a black dress and so comfortable to wear. They are the proof that some changes are for the better, only now I have to make sure flats don’t take over the rest of my closet haha.

LE PARISIEN

So last week I was back in my much beloved city; Paris. The kick start of a short holiday before our baby girl arrives, these days also know as a babymoon haha (love that term) . Off course I had planned a short shopping spree but due to our late arrival (traffic jams) and an early meeting with friends I was forced to keep it even shorter. In preparation of my new life I was looking for a new pair of sneakers, I had my eye on 2 pairs after our last visit to Paris back in June, a pair form the Nike Style Lab and a pair I saw at Kenzo. Well, you can guess which pair I got now.

For the occasion I was wearing on of my favorite dresses of late, another striped number that I also found at Zara. Although again it’s not officially maternity wear it still fits me perfectly. Combined with a pair of flats and my favorite accessories it still makes me feel ladylike in a time when comfort is key.

Some moments in life need to be captured in the most perfect way and my growing baby belly is definitely one of those kind of moments. So for the first time ever I planned a maternity photoshoot, and to make sure everything went smoothly I planned it like a little military mission. Only one chance to do this right, right. Luckily this is what I do best so I started as I always do, seeking inspiration on Pinterest and the rest of internet. Soon I found what I was looking for. Being at ease is very important on a project like this so I asked one of my trusted photographer’s to help me. Together we searched for the perfect location with the best light and background. Off course I did the styling myself, although a lot of stuff I pulled in wasn’t even used in the end, the belly got all the attention haha. To keep things natural and personal I also choose to do my own hair and make-up. Because we wanted to use the natural sunlight we were a bit depending on the weather to cooperate that day. Luckily the weather gods were on our side that day, the sun was shining all morning, giving us exactly the light we needed.

In the end I’m so happy with the results. It’s probably the most intimate and personal shoot I’ve ever done, perfectly capturing the beautiful phase of life I’m blessed to be in right now.

30 WEEKS

Time really does fly, and the past weeks have proven that more then ever. Can’t believe I’m already 30 weeks into my pregnancy and that the end is getting near. A part of me wants to enjoy every second of this special phase in my life and a part of me can’t wait to finally meet the little creature inside of me. Although some times she is giving me a really hard time I already love her to death. Guess that’s what’s being mother is really about.

And after all these weeks I also get surprised sometimes when a garment from my “normal” wardrobe still seems to fit. This maxidress is very special to me, so special I save it for very special occasions only. The last time I wore it was to the Marie Claire Prix de la Mode awards, a evening that holds a very special place in my heart. And now I felt like the moment was special enough to wear it again. This dress has proven it special status over and over again, and even now, 30 weeks in, it doesn’t disappoint.
