When I stumbled up on these light grey heels I immediately felt for them. This pointy shoe with it’s soft grey color is perfect for when I want to give my black heels a rest. And if they manage to survive the winter they will also match perfectly to my spring and summer wardrobe. For now, the weather is still warm enough to wear them bare footed. Perfect with this high waisted pants that I also couldn’t resist. Combined with a simple black top, my BFF (best fake fur haha) and a cute embellished bag I’m feeling all Marlene Dietrich.COMMENTS
There is absolutely nothing that I can say about black that I haven’t said before. It is, and always will be, my favorite non color. And after sort of deciding to buy more black (yep, more not less) I feel like I have more choice in what to wear. Somehow I just feel a lot more secure when wearing black, in winter time that is, and it’s just the perfect base to build an outfit from. Like a little magic touch, maybe that’s why they call it black magic.COMMENTS
So last Thursday my official birthday was there and to celebrate my lover and I planned a small getaway to one of Holland’s capitals, The Hague. I choose to go here because till the end of March 2014 you can visit the exhibition Chanel; The Legend at the Gemeentemuseum. And as a true Chanel lover this exposition in my own country was not to be missed. The exhibition tells you the story of the life of Coco Chanel. From her early childhood, her life in Paris, how she build her business and off course all her lovers. If, like me, you already have read some books about Chanel, you will probably know most of the stories, but somehow it stays very inspiring. At least to me. This exposition is besides all the story of a fashion designer, also about a woman who was very much in control of her life and also ahead of her time. Maybe, to me, that’s even more inspiring than all the beautiful things she created. So in the end, even if you’re are not into the designs of Coco Chanel, this exhibition is a real must see. And if you do love her designs then it’s also a great way to relive her story and see some historical pieces in real life. I know I have enjoyed every minute of it.COMMENTS
The perfect party is not complete without the perfect dress. That’s one of the reasons I always start the hunt for a perfect outfit as early as possible. Off course I also love the hunt it self, especially when you succeed, and you find that once piece you have been searching for. It can also be one hell of a stressful event I experienced so myself. After carefully sourcing the web and spitted trough all of my favorite stores I finally stumbled upon the perfect party dress for my 31th birthday. I ordered it 7 days before the date I actually needed it, well in time you would think. Well, think again. I ordered it on a Friday and received a message on Saturday it was already on it’s way, so far so good. I was literally jumping for joy when I received a text message on Tuesday that it would be delivered that day. Well that attempt failed cause the postman showed up at the fifthteen minutes no one was home that day. Agrrrrrrr, but he, a new attempt was planned for the next day so no worries. Well, more worries was yet to come when my parcel got stuck (or lost) in translation. So again the attempt to deliver my parcel failed. On Thursday I was getting a bit nervous when my parcel was still lost and attempt nr 3 again failed. After several desperate calls the helpdesk ensured me the parcel was not lost (just stuck) and would be delivered Friday morning. And a miracle happened, a received my parcel exactly on time, pfeew, my nerves started to calm down. No the only obstacle that was between me and my fabulous party dress was; the size. But, thank god, after all the delivery fuzz the dress fitted like a glove. The fit, the size, the color, everything was just perfect. A new gem in my closet that I will treasure for ever. Great clothes that carry great memories, and that’s a girl needs sometimes.
A dress like this does all the talking and doesn’t needs much fuzz in my opinion so I styled it with only black, simple and classic accessories.COMMENTS
So last weekend it was time for our sort of annual girls weekend spend in Brussels. And this time we decided to also pre-celebrate my 31st brirthday, as you can image we had loads of fun. After visiting Brussels a few times now I’m starting to know my way around the city a little bit, as far as the nightlife that is, because visiting musea is never on the menu with us girls. After we arrived late friday night we stayed in and enjoyed ourselfs with wine and comfort food. My girls surprised me with pink champagne and a lovely gift, the perfect weekend kick-off. After a late night/early morning we started our saturday at lunchtime, enjoying a delicious lunch at Lola. And after our french lunch we hit the streets for some shopping and visited some of the many chocolateries. At night we dined at one of Brussels most gorgeous restaurants Cospaia. After dinner we were surprised with champagne and fireworks in the coctailbar. We ended the night at club Spirito Martini, were we booked a VIP table to spend the rest of the night instyle. Here we were also provided with champagne and fireworks (bottle nr 4 in case your’e caunting) and we danced the night away untill the early morning. You understand I’m not exaggerating when I say we had the most falulous night. Sunday the Cinderella story was all over, our coach turend back into a pumpkin and we sadly had to go home. The end.
Off course I still have to show you the fabulous party dress I scored but more off that later. During the day I wore the jacket I been wearing the most these past few weeks, I’m so in love with this navy color and sixty’s snit. It’s also very comfartable and easy to wear. For some extra cool I borrowed another shirt from my man and combined it with some fake leather pants and my pony hair booties. I was also wearing the gloves I bought on my last trip to Paris for the firts time, some winter essentials that I already can’t live without.
There are a few items that I love to borrow from my boyfriends closet. One of them is this white shirt, slightly oversized for me but oh so cool and comfortable to wear to wear. I also love to borrow his scarf, I’m wearing it right now, and off course his sweaters. And should I not forget the boyfriend jeans, also one piece I was borrowing long before they became a style of there own. Borrowing from the boys is just timeless, especially when you make it your own.
This weekend I tought is was time to digg out all my winter coats. One of my favorites ever is this camel number that I bought a few years back. A camel coat is such a big classic and that’s why it’s so easy to wear I find. Still dreaming of one day owning a real Max Mara I still treasure this one. What I also treasure are these booties, they match perfectly to al my favorite outfits.COMMENTS
