STYLIST

One of the best parts about my job is that I get to watch a lot of fashion shows. Not live, as I only tend to get few invitations, but I always have a front-row seat from behind my own desk. Attending a real live Chanel show is still my biggest wish (fashion wise) but that’s a total different story. For now I just wanted to tell you about what I have learn from watching fashion shows. On and off the runway it’s all one big pile of inspiration, a great learning school if you know how and were to look. Because, for the most of us all the looks we get to see are totally out of reach, budget wise, but styling wise there is al lot to learn. And the best part, it’s all for free. Like for example the way I’m wearing this scarf. I immediately fell for this look when I saw it on the Burberry runway 2 years ago. And I still love it now. And this is just one of them. So next time you watch a fashion show, real live or online, watch closely and release your inner stylist.   | Dress ZARA | […]

SALE SCORE

Sale, you either love it or hate but you can’t hide from it. And that’s exactly why I’ve turned myself into a sale lover. Back in the days, when we could only shop in stores haha, I really hated this time of year. Messy stores and crowded streets, not my type of shopping. But ever since I started shopping online I also started to love the sales. Nothing beats sale shopping out of the comfort of my own home or office. And over time I have learned a few tricks as well. For one, I have subscribed myself to the mailing-list of all my favorite stores so I know exactly when the sale starts and when to get the best discounts. Then, when I spot something I love I always ask myself 1 question; would I buy it if it was not on sale? If, the answer is NO than don’t do it. You will not be happy in the end. And last but not least, stick to the basics and things you are sure of to wear over and over again. This way you would be buying anything just because it was on sale. And so that’s basically how this […]

PIECES DEUX

One of the best investments I made this season, this 2-piece by Filippa K. From the moment I first spotted it on a store mannequin to the day I purchased it at the Filippa K store in Antwerp, it was on my mind. And from the day I bought it until this very day it has proven to be the great buy that I tough it would be. Worn together it makes the perfect winter dress, worn with heels for a night out or with boots to the office. And separately the sweater works great with jeans or any other trouser or skirt (as seen here). And the skirt works great with a leather jacket and sneakers for a more comfortable day-time look. All together it’s the most versatile set of clothing I ever had. I just found out it comes in 2 colors, so maybe………………….   | Sweater FILIPPA K | Skirt FILIPPA K | Heels ZARA | Clutch BERSHKA |

STARS

‘Life’s a party, but it’s your job to hang out the bunting! So true if you ask me. And the bunting? Just hanging in my closet! I believe every day is a party and nothing more fun than getting ready to party. Most of the time I like that evermore than the party itself. Or just wear a beautiful dress on any given day, just because I can. Because, we live in a free country were woman can wear whatever they want. Even a party dress in the middle of the day, combined with a sweater and a denim jacket. I love it! | Dress RECLAIMED VINTAGE […]

MELLOW YELLOW

Yellow. I used to hate this this color so much, and only because my mom said it sooted me. Much rather I wore pink, like the person I most looked up to, my big sister. These days, yellow is one of my favorite colors and even my man, kid and house get their shair. Luckily not reluctantly. ATEAM

I’m always carrying a vest or jacket in case I get cold. During the day I put it on or take it of multiple times, usually depends on whether I’m sitting still or not. So comfort is key and off course the need to look good. A black blazer is always my number 1 choice but to for some variation I depend on this casual vest. I love how it really works well with everything. From jeans to black dresses, even a classic office look gets better. One of my best buys from last year.   | Vest MANGO | Shirt LOST INK | Trouser ZARA | Heels ZARA | Bag MANGO |

JUST ONE

Trend come and go and after many years of experimenting I feel like I’m finally getting closer to my ideal wardrobe. Mainly because the last few years I shop by the Pareto principle, also known as the 80–20 rule. This means that 20% of what I’m buying is trendy or a real eye-catcher and 80% is timeless and of good quality. I also realized that 80% of the time I’m only wearing 20% of my wardrobe. I can go on forever because actually you can apply the 20/80 rule everywhere. But as I’m not here to lecture anyone I will stop here. I just love to wear black and jeans (80%) and something trendy (20%). So far a mathematical explanation of this outfit. If my math teacher explained it like this I probably would have paid more attention…..   | Jacket ZARA | Top ASOS | Jeans ZARA | Heels TOPSHOP | Bag CHANEL |

FLARE

I know men (mine included) don’t always understand the fashion choices we make but the flared jeans always seems to be the most criticized one. It al started this summer when the skinny jeans got some serious competition of the culotte and now followed by the flare. Personally I think men just naturally have an aversion for anything wide or concealing. Luckily I’ve been the type to worry about that, if you don’t like what you see just look the other way, at least for now ;)   | Blouse ZARA | Jacket H&M | Jeans ZARA | Bag MANGO | Hat ZARA | Heels TOPSHOP |

SHIMMER

Turtlenecks, you either love them or hate them but this year they are fur sure hard to avoid. I’ve been loving them forever and for the first time I don’t have to struggle to find one or wear the same one for years to come. This year, thanks to the 70’s trend, they are everywhere, even at my favorite hangout, Zara. My new favorite pair of heels also have a kind of 70’s vibe to them. They make me feel very Studio 54, even in broad daylight. And the best part is, they are super comfortable for a pair of heels. MENSROOM

I make no secret of my love for men’s clothes, especially those from my own boyfriend, and this dotted shirt is just one of my latest discoveries. I already had my eye on it when it was still in store so I bought it so we could both wear it. Luckily my men isn’t into skirts so we are both wearing it different ways, nobody will notice we’re wearing the exact same shirt. Love is, sharing clothes.   | Shirt ZARA MEN | Skirt ZARA | Heels ZARA | Clutch MANGO | Sunnies PRADA |

DENIM DAYS

More and more denim pieces are finding their way into my closet these days. Not only because designing them is still my main job and it happens to be very trendy this year but also because it’s kids proof. Denim and jeans in particular, is so easy to wear, combines with almost anything and very easy to maintain. It’s almost indestructible  and one of the few things that only look better with age. In short, the perfect piece of clothing to survive  my first year as a mother in style.   | Dress ASOS | Flats DOLCE&GABBANA | Bag VINTAGE | Sunnies PRADA | Scarf CHANEL |

BLACK

Nothing beats wearing an LBD, not even in the heat of summer. And although I have more black dresses than I could ever need, there is always room for more. I love them all the same but this one is specially dear to me since this was the first thing I bought after Chloé was born. I bought it specially to wear to the party we held for her to celebrate her coming in to this world. Along with the Sophia Webster heels I already told you about earlier (click here) they made the perfect combination to make me feel like my old self again.   | Dress ASOS | Heels KURT GEIGER | Bag DIANE VON FURSTENBERG | Sunnies PRADA |

SHORT SUMMER

It took me some time, we’re already half way into summer, but I’m finally ready for wearing shorts. For me being ready has more to do with a state of mind than any physical barriers. Because I’m more of winter person when it comes to clothing it always feels a bit unnatural for me to bare so much skin. But ever since I discovered the perks of fake tanning I’m doing much better. A pair of shorts (or a skirt) just look so much better (in my eyes) with a paired of tanned and toned legs. And since I’m no Doutzen and do neither have the time nor the energy to work out every day and work on my tan on a regular base, I put my trust in a little jar. Et voilà, in just a few hours your’e ready to go. In case your’e wondering what I use: Lóreal Sublime Bronze serum or One day glow.   | Sweater H&M | Shorts ZARA | Clutch BERSHKA | Heels ZARA | Sunnnies PRADA |

FRINGED

Just as much as I love casual clothes I love extraordinary pieces, like this fringed skirt for example. It was love at first sight. I immediately visioned myself twirling around those fringes and all the fabulous ways I could wear this skirt. A match made in heaven so I quickly closed the deal. I also have the perfect occasion planned to wear it and plenty more will follow this summer.   | Shirt H&M | Skirt ZARA | Heels KURT GEIGER | Bag DIANE VON FURSTENBERG | Sunnies PRADA |

OVER MY SCHOULDERS

I love to wear my coat the fashionable way (read; over the shoulder) but like everyone, I’m always struggling to keep it in place. Now a cape short of gives me the same fashionable feeling but with a little more comfort. So when I spotted this cape-jacket I knew this was the solution. I absolutely love it so much that I’m even considering buying it in black as well. Perfect for next season, non? | Cape jacket ZARA | T-shirt ASOS | Jeans REPLAY | Heels DOLCE&GABBANA | Bag VINTAGE |

FLAT FINISH

Looks like summer and flat shoes go really well together these days. Last year I was sort of forced to wear more flat shoes, something that I really looked up to since I’m a very attached to my high heels. But, against all odds, I really got the hang of it and now I have to admit that I’m really becoming a sneaker fan. Although I really try to stay away from the more traditional jeans and sneaker combo. No, I like to keep it feminine by wearing them with skirts and dresses. And this is by far my favorite combination now, perfect for walking around with a stroller. | Top COS | Skirt ZARA | Sneakers CONVERSE | Bag ZARA | Sunnies PRADA |

UP HIGH

Special occasions are always a good excuse to purchase something really special. And with something really special I mean serious designer stuff. So last year, when my hormones were at an all time high I spotted the most gorgeous Sophia Webster heels online. Not your everyday splurge but really something for a special occasion. And of course I had just the perfect occasion in mind, our baby girls first party to introduce her to all of our family, friends and acquaintances. A few days later a big gift box arrived at my door and when I opened it I jumped for joy. They were perfect except for 1 minor detail, they didn’t fit. Being 8 months pregnant does not go so well with high heels, especially high heels with narrow ankle straps. But I kept faith that after giving birth it all would go back to its normal size. And as you can see, luckily it did. 4 weeks after giving birth I was wearing these beauties for Chloé‘s first party.   | Jacket H&M | Jeans ZARA | Bag ZARA | Heels SOPHIA WEBSTER | Sunnies PRADA |

CITY SAFARI

I love to try new combinations and new stuff, trying to make them my own and blend in to my wardrobe. But this time trying something new does not involve new stuff. I simply combined two pieces that I had never worn together before. Funny, because both the jacket and the pants are among the most worn pieces in my wardrobe. Together they make a whole new statement, like I’m on some kind of city safari or something. Anyway, I really like the feeling of this combination that much that it got me thinking of buying a utility jumpsuit. I’m really going for green this summer. | Jacket H&M | Trousers RIVER ISLAND | Broche CHANEL | Heels ZARA | | Sunglasses PRADA | Bag PAUL’S BOUTIQUE |

THE LONGEST

Looks like an old friend of mine is back and he’s here to stay for good. You either love him or hate him but from now on there no way arround it annymore. So take a stand and stick to it, no need to tell you which camp I choose. I know it’s not the most easy style to wear since they don’t fit every body type very easily. But if you find the perfect one than they will serve you well. A good pair will make your legs go on for miles and slims your waist to its very best point. Mine is always high waisted and super long so I can wear them with my highest heels. CORNERSTONE

I always rather dress up than dress down, but ever since I was pregnant and later on being a mom I noticed than on many days comfort is key. So to compensate or sometimes to hide my comfortable or understated looks I found the perfect cover-up. Ever since I spotted this gem online I couldn’t get it of my mind, and that’s always a very bad sign as you know. But ever since it arrived in my life I haven’t regret it for one second. Like any coat should be, it’s the perfect cornerstone for my wardrobe 2.0. | Coat ASOS BLACK | Sweater COS | Jeans and Shoes ZARA | Bag H&M | Sunglasses PRADA | | Follow me on FACEBOOK | INSTAGRAM | | TWITTER | PINTEREST | TUMBLR |

BLACKSTREET

The past few weeks have been like an extensive part of summer, the perfect opportunity to wear my favorite winter pieces in a different way than I would in actual winter time. While following the latest fashion trends for the upcoming season I noticed that the seventies are still a popular eara among my favorite designers. Well, and what’s more seventies than miniskirts and overknee boots. I love them in all black, giving them some extra edge and giving them a real modern feel. I mostly wear them with some other classics, like my boyfriends v-neck sweater and my new favorite bag from Diane Von Furstenberg. This bag has the perfect size to fit all of my daily needs combined with the perfect look to brighten up my all black looks. For sure a combination that I will wear all lot this coming winter. . | Sweater ZARA Men | Skirt MANGO | Boots NELLY | Bag DVF | Sunnies PRADA | . | Follow me on FACEBOOK | INSTAGRAM | TWITTER | PINTEREST | TUMBLR | .

FLOURISHING

With 36 weeks and counting I can now definitely say that maternity wear is not my cup of tea. I have tried and tested a couple of maternity jeans, t-shirts and tops and non of them are to my liking. I try to avoid them as much as I can, guess it’s just not for me. The only items that I have not regret buying are all dresses. Now they are comfortable without any concessions. Like this folk floral printed one from Asos Maternity. It’s my current favorite dress to wear, mainly because it’s just a “normal” dress with some extra space at the waistline, and sometimes that’s just all it takes. By the way, this dress is also available in a “normal” size  for all you non pregnant. Now that’s why I love Asos! . | Dress ASOS | Fake Fur stola H&M | Heels ZARA | Bag CHANEL | Sunnies PRADA | . | Follow me on FACEBOOK | INSTAGRAM | TWITTER | PINTEREST | TUMBLR |

LE PARISIEN

So last week I was back in my much beloved city; Paris. The kick start of a short holiday before our baby girl arrives, these days also know as a babymoon haha (love that term) . Off course I had planned a short shopping spree but due to our late arrival (traffic jams) and an early meeting with friends I was forced to keep it even shorter. In preparation of my new life I was looking for a new pair of sneakers, I had my eye on 2 pairs after our last visit to Paris back in June, a pair form the Nike Style Lab and a pair I saw at Kenzo. Well, you can guess which pair I got now. For the occasion I was wearing on of my favorite dresses of late, another striped number that I also found at Zara. Although again it’s not officially maternity wear it still fits me perfectly. Combined with a pair of flats and my favorite accessories it still makes me feel ladylike in a time when comfort is key. . | Dress ZARA | Flats BODEN | Bag CHANEL | Sunnies PRADA | . | Follow me on FACEBOOK | INSTAGRAM | TWITTER | PINTEREST | TUMBLR |
