Paris at night is even more beautiful then during the day. Especially when the sun is coloring the sky pink and giving the city that special glow. The perfect time to hit the city for dinner and drinks.

On our first and this time only night in Paris I decided to wear what I planned anyway. OK, I added a faux leather jacket for some extra warmth but I did bared my legs and wore sandals. Black, a Breton stripe and some Chanel, the perfect Parisian combination.

Our first day in Paris was well spend. We arrived around noon and after parking our car we immediately hit the city. Our first stop was Avenue George V, a perfect street which I never been before. We had some coffee at nice Parisian/Italian restaurant before we headed over to the Palais du Tokio. This was the first time for us to visit this modern museum and this time we came specially for the Chanel No 5 exhibition. A must see if you’re into Chanel No 5 or Chanel in general like I am. It really tell the story about her life and how she inspired by all the people and things around her, really inspirational.

After we left Palais du Tokio we went to check in in our hotel. This time I choose Hotel Jules for the night. A perfect situated and renovated boutique hotel that I can recommend to anyone who’s looking for a nice hotel in the center of Paris.

After we checked in and dropped off our stuff at the hotel we hit the city and did what I love best. We just had nowhere to go and just got lost, we walked aroud the Louvre and the Tuileries, sat on a terrace every now and then only to find our selfs back in the street of our hotel again. In short, the perfect afternoon. Maybe thats what I love about Paris so much now, I have been their many time and now I just don’t have to see the highlights anymore. I just can get get lost in the city, in the moment.

Before our 2 day stay in Paris we also enjoyed some very relaxing days with our family in the country side of France. Everything was just perfect these days, the company, the food, the wine and just relaxing and doing nothing for a change was more then perfect. The only thing not so perfect was the weather. While we left Holland the predictions were pretty good, sadly it only got worse. So I was forced to wear jeans and a sweater the whole time instead of all the nice things I brought with me(not so bad, pretty comfortable but not for making blog pics) . During a spare moment of sun we did managed to shot this outfit, the clothes I was planning on wearing. The heels we just for the photo, as you can imagine, I only wore comfortable footwear, like my favorite slippers haha. Luckily Paris got a lot more fashionable, pictures coming soon! xo H.

FUR REAL

The last look from the snow, shot on our last day in Gashurn, Austria. The bad weather wasn’t very inviting to go skiing so I decided to sleep in and spend the rest of the morning relaxing. In the afternoon we went shopping in our local shoppingmall so I had to get dressed. I wore some of my most comfortable items, a longsleeve,  legging and a big cardigan. Combined with some of my favorite accessories this was the perfect outfit to do some shopping.

MELTED

After a few days spend with my family in Austria I’m back home again but still got 2 more looks to show you from the snow. The pictures above, again, were shot by my mother haha, just love her. We shot these photo’s at this picturesque hotel in the middle of our village, every year they have these cool melted ice trees that always draws lots of attention. Luckily they are perfectly guarded by this cute golden retriever, we named him Bruno (hopefully it’s not a girl haha). I was wearing some of my favorite pieces from this winter combined with the color of the season, Burgundy.

SNOWWHITE

Besides black, off white is also a color I love to wear in winter. Although it’s not always an easy color to find, I found this dress (that I also like to wear as a large sweater) at H&M last year. In combination with my fake fur coat a nice change to my all black wardrobe.

OH DEAR

After an 8 hour drive we arrived at our family home in Austria. Time to relax, have fun and just do as you feel like, or just do nothing at all. Luckily the weather is very cooperative out here so a long walk up to the grocery store is also the perfect time to catch up on some sun. While we were on out way my mother shot these pictures of me, how cool is that, I think she did a pretty good job. I think you’re gonna see more of us from now on. Have to run now, it’s almost happy-hour in our local pub, don’t want to miss it. See you soon. xo Hanneke

PARIS FAVORITES

Paris is by far my favorite city and by now I’ve been their many times. So I thought it would be time to share all my favorite places with you:

Paris in winter

For some serious shopping I always go to:

*Le Marais; the best part of the city for shopping. From cute boutiques, Vintage heaven to fashion favorites like *Maje and * the best *Zara in town, 88 Rue de Rivoli. This is also where you will find *COS, High end design and good quality for affordable prices. 4 rue des Rosiers, and one of my favorite Vintage stores: *Paris Vintage, think vintage Chanel, Gucci, Hermes and Dior, in other words, vintage heaven. 97 Rue Vieille du Temple, Le Marais. Also buy online www.vintage-paris.com

For some real designer stuff I always go to Avenue Montainge. *Chanel, Gucci, Dior, you name it, all in 1 street. I also love to visit *Colette, all the latests designerwear, gadgets, beauty and lifestyle. If it’s hip and happening you will find it here. 213 Rue Saint-Honoré. Just arround the corner; *Chanel, the place were it all started, the first Chanel store with the famous mirrored staircase. 31 Rue Cambon.

In one of the most chic area’s of Paris, Saint Germain des Prés, you will find *Le Bon Marché, the best and chicest department store in Paris. Not crowded by tourists but lots of real Parisian to spot. 24 Rue de Sèvres. Not far from LBM you will find *Carven, beautiful Parisian style clothes, 34 Rue Saint Sulpice and *Yves Saint Laurent, imagine Arty Ovals in all available colors. 6 Place Saint Sulpice.

Some more of my must see shops are: *Christian Louboutin, 19 Rue Jean Jacques Rousseau, *Céline, 25 Rue du Pont Neuf. And if you can’t get enough of  vintage designer wear and accessories *Gabrielle Geppert, 31-34 Galerie Montpensier, Jardins du Palais Royal.

Chanel, 31 Rue Cambon.

Dinner and drinks:

* La Coupole, This restaurant was recommended to me so we checked it out when we were in town last week. So now from my own experience I can also recommend it to you. Check their site to see what I mean.

* Les 3 Seaux. A small and intimate restaurant with a real French menu. 58 Rue de la Fontaine du Roi.

* Mickey’s Deli, Best burgers in town with the best homemade fries I ever had. Perfect for lunch on a shoppingday. 23 Rue Des Rosiers, Le Marais

* Suan Thai, great Thai restaurant with some of the best Thai food I ate outside of Thailand. Recommended for the 2nd year in a row by Michelin. 35 rue du Temple, Le Marais

* Cafe de Flore, want to run into Karl Lagerfeld or Beyonce, or just feel uber Parisian chic, this is the place for breakfast or lunch. I recommend the Croque Madame. 172 Boulevard Saint-Germain.

* Plaza Athenee, to expensive to book a room but luckily it’s common in Paris to have a drink at a hotelbar before you go out for dinner. 25 Avenue Montaigne

Carrie at Plaza Athenee, Sex and the City

Sleeping:

* The last hotel I stayed in is not very luxurious but for sure one of the cutest so far. Hotel Cluny Square is  small boutique hotel, perfectly placed in the hart of Paris. It’s cheap, clean, has lovely decorated rooms and just a 10 minute walk to Cafe de Flore. 21 boulevard Saint-Michel.

* Hotel Opéra Diamond is more fancy and bit more expansive but also perfectly located near the Opéra Garnier and Boulevard Haussman. And that means just a 5 minutes walk to Le Printemps and Galeries Lafayette.

* Without a doubt Hotel Costes is the most trendy hotels in Paris. Perfectly situated near Colette and Chanel Rue Cambon. Also great for a drink in the hotelbar or just a toilet visit.

* The Ritz is properly the most chicest and famous hotel of Paris but sadly it is now closed for a 2 year lasting renovation. Hopefully some day I will be able to book a room there, preferably the room Coco Chanel has lived in for many years.

Macarons du Ladurée

Other Must Sees:

Some other of my favorite must sees in Paris are:

See Paris from above, not only from the Eiffel tower but from the top of Montmartre, don’t forget to see inside the Sacré Coeur basilica and have your’e picture drawn by one of the many artists in one of the picturesque streets nearby. Walk to the top and take the train back down.

Go to Ladurée for tea and the one and only Macarons. 75 Avenue des Champs-Elysées.

Spend the day (or 2) at the musee du Louvre (and watch the Da Vinci Code before, you’ll love it even more)

Buy a fresh croissant at a traditional bakery and eat it out of your hand while walking around.

Always sit outside (underneath the heaters) for a cup of coffee, just watch all the people that go by, so inspiring.

Buy a bottle of wine and hang out at Jardin du Luxenbourg, especially during Paris fashion week or on a sunny day in spring.

A bike-tour is a perfect way to explore the city in spring or summer. In winter I prefer the hop-on hop-off buss.

And my last and final tip is just get lost, especially in Paris that is the best way to explore the city and find the most perfect places.

CLAIMING MY PRICE

Never thought so much can happen in just 24 hours but to describe it in 1 word; amazing. It all started at 7 in the morning when our car and chauffeur stood in front of my door, ready to take us to Paris.

After a comfortable ride we finally arrived in Paris and after a quick lunch at Café de Flore we started at my favorite department store, Le Bon Marché. All of my favorite designers under one roof so this was the perfect place to start. I also bought my first Chanel item of the day, Chanel no 5 eau de parfum.

Our private Volvo with chauffeur took us any where we wanted to go. To bad this was only for one day because I could certainly get used to this.

Because I already knew what I wanted to buy we wasted no time and it was off to Chanel at Avenue Montaigne. To bad we were not allowed to take pictures inside so this is all I can show you.

I took the time to see everything that met my requirements, I really enjoyed the good services and tried on different bags, shoes and sunglasses. Finally got what I was looking for, a new Chanel 2.55 bag. A classic bag, once again in my favorite colors black and gold, but now in a different size. And to make my look complete I bought the matching sunnies that were on top of my list for a long time now. As you can guess, I left the store as a very happy girl. Off course our Volvo and chauffeur were waiting for us outside to take us the next address.

I just love Paris by night, so atmospheric.

After spending lots of time at Chanel we had little time left so we went to Printemps and Galleries Lafayette to spend our last ours of shopping. Also made a quick stop at our favorite highstreet stores Zara and Mango. But because the sale in the Netherlands already started and not in Paris we decided not to buy anything here. So wise of us haha.

Our last stop of the day was at the famous restaurant La Coupole for some dinner and drinks. And because we had a driver we didn’t hold back on the wine and had a really fun evening. But sadly all good things have to come to and end and after dinner our chauffeur was ready for our last ride, the ride home. In short, the perfect end to the perfect day. After we left the city and drove on the highway we fell a sleep until we woke up at home. Our Cinderella story was over, an unforgettable day. A big thank you once again to Marie Claire, Volvo cars, our chauffeur Paul, Marjolein and all the other people who made this a day to never ever forget. And a big thank you to you for reading, because without you and this blog, I would have never won this price in the first place.

Ps; tomorrow I will show you all the photo’s of my purchases so stay tuned!

JUST ONE WEEK AWAY

In just one week I’ll be in my favorite city again, claiming my price that came with my Marie Claire Prix de la Mode. For one day only, but hey, you don’t hear me complain, my sister and I will have a Volvo car with chauffeur that will drive us to Paris for some serious shopping. A dream come true, that’s for sure!  The week to come is all about New Years Eve and getting ready to collect my price. 2013 couldn’t begin better.

Last time I was in Paris, doing some research at Chanel.
